An engineer with an MBA from HEC Business School in Paris, Thierry also holds a double Master (MSc) from University Pontifica ICAI de Madrid and the University of Southampton.
Thierry has accumulated 20-years’ experience in project management and sustainable development. Co-founder and President of EcoAct since 2005, Thierry provides the experience of more than 200 carbon footprinting and management missions directed for our clients internationally.
Thierry is also Project Director and CEO for EcoAct’s carbon emissions reduction project in Kenya, Climate Pal, which was awarded in 2014 and 2015 as Best Carbon Project – Energy Efficiency worldwide by Environmental Finance.
Gérald Maradan // CEO
A Co-founder and CEO of EcoAct since 2005, Gerald is an Engineer from Grenoble Polytechnique. He holds a Master’s degree in Research and an MBA from HEC Paris. As a Project Director for over 100 missions, he participated in the set-up of more than 25 carbon offset projects (biomass, REDD+, renewables, REDD+, cookstoves…) over the last 10 years.
Gerald was elected president of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA) in 2013 & 2014, and was one of designated Peer Reviewers for Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) for the REDD+ methodology, and participated in pilot REDD+ project development in Brazil in 2007. Furthermore, he participated in the definition and application of cookstoves methodologies for EcoAct in several missions in developing countries in African and South America.
Gerald has been an external speaker for Sorbonne University, HEC and external conferences on carbon offsetting projects, he is the Director of EcoAct’s subsidiarity Climate Pal in Kenya.
Meinrad Bürer, PhD // Associate Professor, University of Geneva
Dr. Meinrad Bürer joined the University of Geneva, Institute for Environmental Sciences in 2015 as a Senior Research Associate and Lecturer. His research interests include energy, climate policies, low carbon and climate resilient development pathways.
Meinrad is also Senior Officer, Climate Change Mitigation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the world’s largest humanitarian network, reaching 150 million people each year. His role is to contribute to IFRC positioning on climate change at international level and provide technical support.
Prior to his role within the IFRC, Meinrad served as Technical Director for The Gold Standard Foundation, and is currently chairing the Energy Technical Advisory Committee of the Gold Standard Foundation.
Fanny Guezennec // Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta
As an Agronomist Engineer with a Master’s Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Fanny worked for several years in the wood sector as an Environment and Communication Manager. Following her work experience in the United States, she specialized in Economics and Environmental Politics. She has 12-years’ professional experience and more than 8 years of experience in the forestry industry.
Fanny works on tools development and innovative methodologies to accompany enterprises, climate institutions, in climate neutrality. Fanny offers an extensive knowledge of the wood industry to our partners either in globally in addition to her know-how concerning the carbon strategy.
Alexander Murillo // Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas
An engineer from Universidad Distrital Francisco Jose de Caldas (UDFJC) in Colombia and with a Master in Sustainable Development and Quality and Environment (QSE) from Institut Supérieur d’Etudes en Alternance du Management (ISEAM) in France, Alexander has cumulated almost ten years of international work experience in low carbon project management and in the implementation of carbon strategies and Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) of carbon reduction programmes.
Alexander is specialized in technical aspects of low-carbon projects: MRV processes, carbon offsetting studies on different project types; project certification and monitoring; GHG accounting; carbon registry and quality procedures.
Alexander has worked for four years as a manager for afforestation/reforestation projects, sourcing sustainable on wood products certification and environmental management plans for forestry, mining and energy projects and working on their MRV and quality (ISO) processes. He was responsible for operations in Carbon Registries at the CDC group accompanying projects developers through the registration process in voluntary carbon market (Verified Carbon Standard and Gold Standard) and in the European market (EU-ETS), in charge of the quality process.
Arianna De Toni, PhD // École Normale Supérieure, Paris
PhD from the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure and graduate of a specialized Master in Engineering and Environmental Management at the Ecole des Mines de Paris, Arianna has more than 10-years’ experience in environmental consulting. She notably spent several years at Deloitte Sustainability Services team. She has coordinated over 50 missions including consulting for the European institutions and national ministries or agencies, such as the Norwegian Agency of Climate and Pollution (KLIF).
Arianna supports partners in the development and implementation of their corporate social responsibility, climate and carbon strategies. She is an expert in risk analysis and management, having led the due diligence of numerous carbon projects for two major multinational companies in the last months.
Arianna has audited carbon offset projectsin developing countries, and providesa mastery of integrating key performance indicators for carbon offset projects in addition to social, economic, and environmental co-benefits.
Véronique Mariotti, PhD // Climate Sciences Institute, Paris
Véronique holds a M.Sc. from ENSTA ParisTech, one of the top ten engineering schools in France, along with a Ph.D in climate sciences from the University Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
She started her career in academia where she developed diverse climate simulations and authored 8 publications in peer-reviewed journals. Convinced by the urgency to take concrete actions against climate change, she decided to direct her career on more concrete aspects of the climate change issues.
That is how she started as an engineer within the environmental department of Ville de Montreal where she prepared the first climate change adaptation plan for Montreal. She is now Climate Energy Consultant and provides advises on carbon and climate strategies.
William Theisen, MBA // Climate Finance, Boston University, HEC Paris
A graduate of Boston University, William also possesses an MBA from HEC Paris, and more than 10 years of experience in climate finance and carbon project development. Previously, he worked for a project cooperative of development partitions (international NGOs, social enterprises, etc.) as Director of Communication and Partnerships. Within this association, William has identified, evaluated and supported the development of more than a dozen of carbon finance projects in Southeast Asia and Africa, helping them to scale up activities into national programs and supporting them on technological innovation issues. He has also developed project portfolios, communication strategies, public private partnerships, and project management for key partners.
William developed a network of Sub-Saharan Africa project NGOs and social enterprises for the expansion of the Nexus alliance. He also coordinated cookstoves Program of Activities in West Africa within the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) framework, has developed risk assessments and risk mitigation strategies.
William also worked at the Gold Standard Foundation, conducted research supervised by Yale University (USA) on carbon financing in West Africa, and facilitating projects certification in Asia and Africa. Thanks to this valuable experience with projects developers and certification organizations, and as a globally recognized expert, he has a unique vision of the how to ensure success of carbon projects.
Emmanuel Bentejac // Politics and Development of the Global South, Sciences Po Bordeaux
Emmanuel Bentejac is focused on the finance, insurance, information and communication in technology sectors.
Graduating with a degree in History and Geography at the University Paris IV Sorbonne, he completed a first Master in Geopolitics, then a second Master in Politics and Development of the Global South at Sciences Po Bordeaux.
After his studies, he worked for Bordeaux City Council’s communication department then Veolia Environment’s Climate & Energy Unit, where he concentrated on topics related to sustainable development.
From 2011 to 2015, Emmanuel was a Climate & Energy project manager, especially in charge of the international growth strategy of the Climate & Energy sector. Emmanuel works mainly on the promotion of energy efficiency and energy savings in developing countries (West Africa, Southeast Asia, etc.). Emmanuel has also managed several studies in the environment and energy sectors, in France, on behalf of private and institutional actors.
In addition, Emmanuel works on the issue of mitigation and adaptation climate change strategies. This includes training programs, impacts of climate change analysis and mitigation plans for local authorities.
Renaud Le Chatelier // Collective Intelligence and Sustainable Development, HEC Paris
With an MSc in Management of Sustainable Development from HEC Paris, Renaud is an engineer from Institut Supérieur de l’Environnement with 10 years’ experience in consulting missions on sustainable development and carbon neutrality.
He has cumulated a long experience in sustainability communication, web 2.0 and change management (content creation, media communication, participatory marketing, …). He has strong experience in workshop and events management (having managed EcoAct’s COP21 events campaign, Cap COP21) and worked on the marketing and communication tools for the carbon neutral strategies for many partners.
Renaud also founded NéoEco, a company specialized in sustainable development communication, and Tinkuy, an online platform for innovation in sustainability and stakeholders’ management.
Lara Lestrade // International Relations, University of New South Wales
Graduate of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques d’Aix en Provence in Public Affairs with a specialization in institutional communication, Lara has 2-years’ experience as a Responsable Communication Project Manager.
She participates in numerous missions with regard to the communication around the environment/sustainable development issues. She contributes to both the elaboration of the contents and key messages, and to the elaboration of editorial content, or strategic recommendations. Lara has valuable experience in managing events and networks with regard to sustainable development thanks to her previous experiences or within the organization of public event series, CapCop21.
Jérôme Beilin // MA in Environmental Policies, King's College of London
Jerome graduated from the Bordeaux Institute of Political Studies in Management of Administrations and Organisations, with a specialization in International Affairs. He also graduated from King’s College London, where he obtained a MA in Environmental Policies.
Jerome has more than 6-years’ experience in defining and implementing corporate social responsibility and sustainable development strategies within multinational corporations.
He has a deep knowledge of carbon offsetting mechanisms and projects, having participated in several strategic missions for key partners and working with several projects on the ground in the last few years.
Sabrina Giorgi // Sustainable Development and Economics, Paris Dauphine University
Sabrina is a graduate from Paris Dauphine University with a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development, and holds also a Master’s Degree of Economics from La Sorbonne University.
She has more than 7 years of experience in sustainability strategy, working for private and public actors. Her expertise is strongly focused on carbon projects: management, assessment and monitoring of projects of GHG emission reductions.
She is accredited to complete Carbon Footprinting, masters the GHG Protocol methodology. Sabrina already completed more than 40 Carbon Footprints for major companies, and worked on the carbon management strategy for key players in climate mitigation.
Marion Eynius // Environmental Sciences, Univerisity of Sussex
Graduate from the University of Sussex with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Marion has worked in sustainable development with a specific focus on climate change for two years.
She has strong competencies in the project management. In the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA), Marion has worked on the entire carbon value chain and climate finance employed in the market. Marion currently handles consulting services in the climate strategy sector, especially on carbon neutrality.
Fanchon Dufau // Sustainable Management and Eco-design, EME Paris
Graduate of the Ecole des Métiers de l’Environnement (EME) with a Master’s of Science and specialized in Sustainable Management & Eco-design, Fanchon has more than three years of experience within the realization of consulting missions concerning the Carbon strategy.
Fanchon has conducted more than 20 carbon footprint and carbon strategy missions for public and private sector institutions. She works on the implementation of their action plans concerning the reduction of the emissions as well as through the voluntary carbon compensation processes.
Alice Deda // Sustainable Development and Economics, AgroParisTech
With a Master of Sustainable Development Economics, Environment and Energy, and Bachelor of Biology, Alice is specialized in sustainable development and environmental protection, developing and implementing sustainable development communication strategies (writings and realization of documents, video recording coverage…) as well as hosting consultation meetings and participation processes.
These latter are conducted together with private companies, institutions and regional authorities. Alice masters all of the environmental evaluation and environmental communication tools (LCA, EPD, GHG Protocol, …).
